Spider-Man made his way into a Supreme Court decision today. In a case pitting inventor Stephen Kimble against Marvel Entertainment over an expired toy patent, the Court ruled to uphold a 50-year-old patent ruling that let the comics company stop sending royalty payments to Kimble — and they had a little bit of fun in reaching their decision.

Big news, True Believers. The New York Daily News reports that, in the aftermath of Marvel’s summer blockbuster series Secret Wars, Miles Morales will take center stage as the face of the company’s relaunched Spider-Man title. The new series will be led by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, who created the character in 2011, and will effectively replace the Spider-Man titles that were recently cancelled in the run-up to the event.

Star Wars is in the process of rebuilding its official canon after Disney made the decision to detonate thirty-five years of accumulated backstory last year. Thanks to a handful of new novels, The Clone Wars and Rebels TV shows, and the movies themselves, parts of the universe are already in place, but as partners such as book publisher Del Rey and comics powerhouse Marvel scramble to fill in the gaps before Episode VII‘s launch, there are still plenty of opportunities to drop proton torpedo-sized story bombs on Star Wars fans.

In the titanic struggle that threatens to change the face of our planet forever — the smartphone fanboy wars — Tony Stark has chosen a side. Samsung has co-opted Stark’s Iron Man mask and color scheme, using both on a new limited edition version of its Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone. The model, which comes as part of a long-running tie-in between Samsung and Marvel for its Avengers movies, also comes with a wireless charging pad made to look like one of Stark’s arc reactors.
Iron Man is a good superhero selection for Samsung’s smartphone. Both Galaxy S6 Edge and Tony Stark are stylish, flashy, and have access more technology than they really know what to do with. In Tony’s case, he advances on his findings to unshackle humanity from its…

Everyone’s favorite superhero team is back again! They’re all here — there’s the tech genius with a metal suit, the hyper-accurate archer dude, and the mysterious backflipping assassin woman. That’s right, it’s the heroes from DC Comics’ upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, the first trailer of which was shown off by TV network The CW today ahead of the show’s premiere early next year.
Of course, The Avengers are hardly the first selection of superheroes to band together, but for viewers whose only exposure to comic book superheroes has come via TV and movies, some of Legends of Tomorrow‘s stars appear on first glance to have borrowed particularly liberally from Marvel’s crew. The Atom, in particular, shares traits with not one but two of DC’s…

Graphic designer Justin Kozisek might be giving us a look at the a grim future where The Walt Disney Company owns every major entertainment powerhouse. Kozisek’s NFL helmet concepts bring Marvel’s superhero movie mania to everyone’s favorite bone-crushing sport. Some of the mash-ups are pretty clever, like the “Oakland Shields” and the “Washington Groots.” And for those Tony Stark fans out there, there’s the “San Francisco Ironmen.” The project was inspired by this pretty neat set of Star Wars NFL helmets. For more Marvel-branded head protection, check out Kozisek’s site.

In news that should surprise no one, it appears that Star Wars characters will soon be a part of the toys-to-life series Disney Infinity. Disney hasn’t made the long-anticipated news official just yet, but a retailer has leaked what looks to be the starter set for the new game.
Just like Skylanders, Disney Infinity is a game that lets you scan real toys into a video game. The first version mashed together characters from Disney movies, while version 2.0 added Marvel characters. Star Wars has long been expected to be the latest addition, and designer Jeff Bunker even hinted at it, telling The Verge that “I think we have a style that accommodates anything that comes our way.” The 3.0 set leaked by retailer Saturn shows a set that includes…

Matt Murdock — better known as crime-fighter Daredevil — is finding his way back to the small screen. Netflix has announced that the Marvel hero will return in a second season of Daredevil, due to hit the streaming service at an unspecified point in 2016. No plot details have been announced yet, but it looks likely that Murdock will widen his net, dealing with other villains from the comic company’s vast stable.
The new season keeps stars Charlie Cox, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent D’Onofrio, but makes some changes behind the scenes. Showrunner Steven DeKnight, who took charge of Daredevil‘s well-received first season, is out, replaced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who worked on Buffy and Sons of Anarchy respectively.

When Marvel’s Ant-Man lost its director last year, it took the comic company weeks to find a replacement. For rival DC Comics and its big-screen version of Wonder Woman, there’s no such problem. The movie’s director, Michelle MacLaren, quit over creative differences just two days ago, but DC and studio Warner Bros. have already found someone to step into the breach. Enter Patty Jenkins, who The Hollywood Reporter says has agreed a deal to direct the big-screen adaptation of the iconic comic character, due for release in 2017.
Jenkins recently directed the pilot for AMC series The Killing, but is best known for directing 2003’s Monster, a crime drama that won star Charlize Theron an Oscar for her role as serial killer Aileen Wuomos. She…

It’s official: the new Spider-Man will be Peter Parker — not his successor in the comic books, Miles Morales, or anyone else who has donned the Spider-Man mask over the years. And the reboot (number three, if you’re keeping count) will focus far more than ever before on Parker’s experiences in high school. That’s all according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who, after the surprise Sony-Marvel deal earlier this year, is now helping to oversee the creative direction of the Spider-Man films.
In an interview with Collider, Feige explains the decision to keep Parker in high school: “Some of my favorite Spider-Man arcs and Spider-Man stories — he’s in high school for a lot of it. We want to explore that. That also makes him very,…
