How To Make Caramel

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

This recipe arrives from an ancient Houston Chronicle foods segment.

6 or 8 doves

3 Tbsp. flour

1/2 teasp. salt

one/4 teasp. pepper

one/2 cup olive oil

one or two cloves of garlic

one cup Burgundy or Claret of other red wine

Dust the doves with flour seasoned with salt and pepper. In a serious skillet, lightly brown doves in heated oil with garlic. When browned, take away garlic and discard.

Add wine and ample drinking water to barely cover birds. Simmer about 1 and 1/2 hours or till tender. Thicken pan juices with a tiny of the remaining seasoned flour.

Serve with a brown/wild rice mix. Serves three.

* Other little birds might be substituted in these recipes.

Caramel is a universally loved candy that is quick to make. Homemade caramel can be utilised as a base ingredient in various candies and desserts.

Components:

8 Tablespoons of granulated sugar

4 Tablespoons of h2o

Products:

Wooden spoon

A dry caramel is hard and chewy.

If you are new to making caramel, it is ideal to start off off using white sugar so you can get the coloration down. Nonetheless, any granulated healthy sugar will work. You are not able to make caramel applying synthetic sweeteners.

Be watchful when operating with caramel. It is hot and sticky, and will cause a nasty burn off if it touches your skin prior to it has cooled.

You can add numerous extracts to caramel to it to give it a diverse flavor. For instance, you could use vanilla extract, almond extract, or cinnamon extract. Don’t forget that extract goes a extended way, so get started off with only a drop and slowly but surely add to taste. The very best time to add your extract is for the duration of the cooling stage mainly because you won’t have to have to stir as very long. Nonetheless, the initially time you try it, you may well want to wait around until eventually soon after the caramel has cooled so that you can adjust to taste. By no means put scorching caramel on your tongue.

Serving suggestions:

Caramel is continually good above ice cream. A further delectable recipe is to warm a chocolate brownie and leading it with vanilla ice cream, warm caramel, and hot fudge.

For a particular family members deal with on a snowing day, make dry caramel and add a dash of peppermint oil. Scoop clean snow into a bowl. Pour the dry caramel in various enjoyment designs and allow it freeze in the snow. Peel the caramel candy off the snow and try to eat.

Caramel is not just for dessert. The myth about red bird nest has been lingering in the Chinese community. Some says that the swiftlets combine their saliva with blood when producing the nests other says that due to frequent harvesting by the farmers, the swiftlets have to perform too difficult right until they bleed at the throat in the course of bird nest development. The reality on the other hand, is that hardened blood is black in color.

In accordance to the observation of skilled harvestors, the nests uncovered around the entrance of the caves are white in color. Going deeper within the cave, the nests are yellow in colour and in the vicinity of the deepest conclude golden red color.

How To Make Soba

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Many noodle dishes are out there, yet this one takes the cake as among the easiest to make. You only need 4 ingredients, excluding the pots and bowls used during the process. A few more ingredients can be used if you want to increase the flavor. This is also a more interactive way of eating a noodle dish. Instead of putting the food in your mouth, you actually dip it in sauce before eating it. Learn how to make soba today.

The ingredients that you are going to useare: buckwheat noodles, soba soy sauce (they can be found in Asian markets across the country but also should be available in your local markets as well.), toasted seaweed, green onions, a radish and some salt.

First thing we need to do is to cook the noodles. Get a large pot of water and bring it to a boil. Add some salt for flavoring and then put in the buckwheat noodles. The best way to check if your noodles are done is to taste them. Take out a strand and if it seems like it’s cooked enough, it is. If not, let it boil in the water for a couple more minutes.

While the buckwheat noodles are cooking in the pot of water, take your green onion and dice it fairly fine. After you have done that, take a food processor and grind your radish down until you have a chunky paste like substance. Add these two items to your soba sauce and mix it well. This will give it multiple layers of flavor instead of just a bland soba soy sauce.

Once your buckwheat noodles have finished cooking, take a plate and put your noodles on that. Add some shredded toasted seaweed on top of the noodles. Serve with the sauce in a little bowl and eat!

Surprise your friends and family with a soba dish that will take you only a couple of minutes to make.

New Charity Campaign Inaugurated by Northern Insurance Agencies in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. Spreads Cheer with Random Acts of Kindness

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 25, 2015

With agencies in Hyattsville and Derwood, Maryland, Northern Insurance Agencies celebrates the beginning of a new charity campaign as part of its ongoing Community Program, now looking to unite the community with random acts of kindness. In return for people participating, Northern Insurance Agencies will reward people for their random acts of kindness with prizes throughout the year. Participants are asked to hashtag #NorthernRAK on Facebook or Twitter with a photo of them doing a random act of kindness. The agency announces that those with a heart for spreading joy can now join the agency’s efforts and learn more information at their website: http://northerninsuranceagencies.com/NorthernRAK_15_community_cause.

Tom Northern, the agency’s principal, who has helped touch the lives of many other people in the communities where his agencies are inserted, attested, “We initiated our Community Cause program a little less than a year ago and have seen some great success in raising money for families, individuals and children in need. With the New Year here, we wanted to try something a bit different, which is why we’ve started our Random Act of Kindness campaign. We’re hoping that everyone joins in and together we can make our community a better place…don’t forget to hashtag NorthernRAK!”

To achieve success with the campaign, the agency’s network of customers, business partners, friends, staff and family are being invited to actively participate by not only contributing financially, but also by helping spread the word to others.

Northern Insurance Agencies continues to employ its own resources to ensure the success of their community program. The current campaign is being promoted through the agency’s social media channels, email and text message communications, as well as through their monthly magazine, delivered to thousands of households in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. In fact, Our Hometown magazine reserves a full page to feature this worthy cause, including all of its details. The electronic Flipbook version of the current issue can be accessed here: http://northerninsuranceagencies.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_43.

Northern Insurance Agencies will continue to work with individuals and nonprofits in the area to identify new worthy opportunities to support the community, every 30-90 days. Through the agency’s website, any members of the community can also submit information on known families or persons who could use some help – http://northerninsuranceagencies.com/Submit-A-Community-Cause-Idea_47. Entries are diligently submitted for review, and the elected worthy causes are properly contacted by a representative of Northern’s Community Program. How to Make a Tattoo

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Dermis, the skin underneath the epidermis is where the tattoo pigments are injected. Our immune system will naturally treat the pigments as foreign materials and engulf it. Over time, healing will take place and any damage will eventually flake out while deeper underneath the skin granulation tissue forms. This granulation tissue is responsible for healing at the same time trapping the pigments just below the boundary between dermis and epidermis. The pigment is stable in this area but overtime, the pigments will tend to migrate deeper in the dermis which is the reason why tattoo seem to fade.

Modern tattoo machine is capable of handling numerous numbers of needles. The number of needles needed depends upon the complexity and shading of the tattoo design. In the olden times, especially in other tribal cultures tattooing consisted of cutting or tracing the design onto the skin, rubs it with ink or ashes or other shading materials which invariably leads to scarification.

In modern times, the actual act of tattooing is done without frills. In ancient cultures like for example the Maori s of New Zealand, tattooing is part of a rite of passage, a celebratory act done with much fanfare and symbolism. Every tattoo performed is in itself a story of how it came about. Traditions play a role in the propagating the practice of tattoo. The symbolism tied to tattooing is so great because it is only conferred to those who are already adults and therefore it is as if the person being tattooed is conferred qualities which previously he lacks. What is probably unique about Maori tattoo practice is that they use chisel. Imagine being chiseled just to signify your entry to adulthood! Furthermore, most tattoos are done on any part of the body but Maoris do it on the face. Just a bit of history, when European explorers and Maori chief agrees on something, the agreement is put in paper and both parties will sign. The traditional signature of a Maori chief is the tattoo design he has on his face. It is copied on to the document.

Today, most tattoo parlors adhere to standards of cleanliness and customer safety. There is less to worry about how tattoo is done and you can always ask the tattoo artist for the procedure to allay any apprehensions that you have.

How to make a film

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

LET YOUR IDEA BOIL

Dominic and Shane developed the story for years before being satisfied enough to begin production.

Dominic Murphy: This all came about because Shane had got fascinated by Jesco through documentary material, and he went down and met him and they bonded. Shane was excited about this guy, interested in his extreme personality and his whole culture. He reimagined Jesco’s story and came up with a more extreme version of what might have happened to him. Shane sent me this monologue, the story of Jesco White. At first I thought he was a fictional character, but the story had an integrity and made sense to me.

BE PERSONAL

Dominic went to West Virginia to meet Jesco himself, but was determined not to let him influence their own ideas too heavily.

Meeting Jesco didn’t make us change the script much, we were pretty faithful to our original idea. There was this short story that we had that was a narration of his life and we had to build it into a screenplay, and we kept faithful to that. As a director, or creative person, writer, whatever, you’re kind of writing about yourself as much as anything else. There’s an emotional dynamic or awareness going on in the story, and that in a way is the most important thing.

USE CREATIVE LICENCE

The filmmakers never intended White Lightnin’ to be a straight life story, and much of it is fictionalised.

We were never trying to portray him directly – it’s not a biopic, it’s a kind of dark fantasy inspired by him. The important things are the same: he was in and out of reform schools, his father did teach him the dancing to try to keep him out of trouble, and his father was murdered, although the scenario was different. Jesco was actually there, this fight broke out and these guys went off and got a shotgun and shot his father. There was tragedy in that the family found it very difficult to stay together after that, but essentially nothing really happened after that to Jesco. Our story is a kind of “What if…”, taking the key themes of his life and projecting them forward, taking it as far as it could go.

CREATE YOUR REALITY

Jesco’s own interpretation of events is dubious.

Yeah, the unreliable narrator… Who knows what parts of Jesco’s story are true? There’s an element to storytelling, to memory, that’s unreliable, and I think we tried to build that into the film. There are portions of the film that don’t really add up and that was something we wanted to do, because our Jesco is telling the story, and he doesn’t know what really happened – he’s struggling to interpret the reality of the situation.

MAKE SURE YOUR LEAD ACTOR HAS GOOD EYES

Jesco is portrayed amazingly by Edward Hogg, who despite coming from Doncaster, has the charisma and raw energy to be utterly convincing.

His eyes are amazing, they pop off the screen. The UK Film Council, who funded the film, loved the script. But one thing they do, if they’re unsure about any element of it, is they ask filmmakers to make a pilot based on something they’re not 100 percent confident about. With us, they were confident about my filmmaking but they wanted to know who we could get to play this incredible, charismatic yet psychotic character and pull it off. So they gave us some money and we did a pilot and made a documentary of the casting process. We saw hundreds of people, and then I did workshops with about a dozen shortlisted actors. Some of them were bigger names, but Ed just stood out. For the closing shot of this documentary the camera closed in on his eyes and he looked up. The Film Council watched it and they went: “Wow. You’ve got the money. Go ahead.”
