Maintaining Good Digestive Health

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

The digestive system extends from the lips and oral cavity to the rectum and anus. The food is taken in by the digestive system and broken down into protein, fat and carbohydrates. Through this metabolic process, the body converts food into energy and the building blocks of life for growth and repair. After absorbing these nutrients, the digestive system then eliminates the waste.

Your digestive health determines whether you will have a vibrant and active life or one of discomfort and disease. When the digestive system is malfunctioning, it sends a distress signal. The most common signal is bloating. If your digestive system is sending you an SOS, here are some things that you can do to help it.

Modify Your Diet

When you heat foods above 48°C, you destroy valuable enzymes. Adding raw and cultured vegetables to your meals gives you the enzymes you need to eliminate bloating. These vegetables contain enzymes that make them, and the rest of your meal, easier to digest. Menu ideas include a fresh garden salad or a side dish of kimchi, sauerkraut or pickles.

Fresh pineapple is a delicious way to rescue your beleaguered digestive system. Pineapple is oftentimes used as a meat tenderizer because it contains bromelain, an enzyme that breaks down protein. If meat is on your menu, you might want to include some pineapple on the side or in a fruit salad.

A common reason for bloating is irregular elimination. Adding fibre-rich foods keeps your digestive tract healthy and makes the system more efficient. Look for ways to add more fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals to your regimen. When you add fibre to your diet, you need to go slowly to give your intestines time to adjust. A fibre-rich diet is a good way to maintain healthy digestion.

Change Your Table Manners

Digestion begins in the mouth. You should chew thoroughly to mix your food with the enzymes in your saliva. The salivary enzymes begin the digestion of fat and starches. Slow and thorough chewing also reduces bloating by reducing the amount of air you swallow when you eat.

Large meals are also a common reason for feeling bloated. If you feel uncomfortable after eating, you can try eating six small meals instead of three large ones.

Another way to reduce bloating is to reduce the amount of liquids you have with your meals. Drinking too much water dilutes your digestive enzymes and stomach acids.

Supplemental Enzymes

Some people may benefit from the use of supplemental enzymes. The following list provides some selected enzymes and the food proteins that they digest:

• amylase carbohydrates, starches, sugars

• invertase sucrose

• lactase lactose

• lipase fat

• sucrose complex sugars and starches

Dietary supplements contain several different enzymes for coverage of the proteins typically eaten during a meal. Supplemental enzymes can also be packaged as single ingredients to address lactose intolerance or excess gas from beans and cruciferous vegetables.

Hippocrates once said, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.” Making informed decisions about what you eat can help you achieve optimal digestive health and eliminate bloating.

Award-Winning Skin Care Brand Launches Wholesale Program

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Reno, Nevada (PRWEB) May 21, 2015

Black Rock Mud Company, known for their commitment to ethical and professional standards, spent two years cultivating the resources to create a skin care product that met their list of qualifications. The result was MudPot, an entirely organic, USA-made, eco-friendly facial aesthetic clay that is world-renowned for its ability to draw toxins from the skin and restore an optimal pH level. For their effort, they were featured on the cover of The Wall Street Journal and in a plethora of other publications; and they received an international packaging award in 2012 – if you plant the MudPot’s package, it grows wildflowers. Prompted by excited retailers, they’ve introduced new products and an unprecedented wholesale program that will allow day spas, medical spas, salons, and luxury gift shops access to extraordinary marketing and public relations support.

When shops make the choice to sell Black Rock Mud Company products, they will benefit from traditional incentives like in-depth training and promotional supplies and materials. But what’s innovative is Black Rock Mud Company’s partnership with Kindred Marketing Company that will provide retailers with expert public relations and marketing services, at no extra cost. “The owners of Black Rock Mud Company are very forward-thinking with this notion of retailer support and it’s something I wanted to get behind. They understand that equipping partners with the materials they need to be successful in bringing new clients in the door, is mutually beneficial,” says Tina Davis, founder of Kindred.

Kindred has made a name for itself by providing effective public relations and marketing solutions to businesses in the beauty and wellness industries, and brings nearly a decade of experience to the table. Partners under the new program will receive free consulting, copy-editing, customized content, and strategic planning for as long as they are Black Rock Mud Company retailers.

In addition to the innovative program structure, the creators of MudPot have also announced additions to their skin care product line. The luxury aesthetic facial mask is the product that put Black Rock Mud Company on the map – literally. “After our story appeared on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, orders started coming in from all over the country,” says Shelly Egbert, owner of Black Rock Mud Company. “We turned it into a fun homeschool geography lesson by having the kids track the orders on a wall map that they pinned with each city. They tracked cities in 37 of the 50 states from all four corners of the U.S.A., including Alaska and Hawaii!”

Spurred by the national success of MudPot, Black Rock Mud Company has rolled out a full line, including a dry organic bath soak, a thermal spring water toner, an array of luxury mud soaps, and granite massage stones. All of their products will be available under the new wholesale program, which officially launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2015. Interested retailers are asked to contact Black Rock Mud Company via email at info(at)blackrockmud(dot)com or call 775.302.3599 for more information.

3 Things To Never Say During A Job Interview

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Have you ever been in a situation where you are nervous and you end up saying stupid things? I suppose we’ve all been in that position and somehow we aren’t really in control in these nervous moments. Often when we are talking to a guy or a girl we really like we get so nervous that words just blurb out and after wards we can’t believe that we said that. When it comes to a job interview we have to be so careful. We all get nervous in an interview situation and you simply cannot afford to have the wrong words come out of your mouth.

There are certain things that can make or break a job interview in a second. These are things you need to avoid at all costs. Here are just 3 of them.

1. Never say that you hated your old boss or your old job.

Nobody wants to employ someone who does not get on with their boss or fellow employees. If you go out and tell your prospective employer that, then you immediately become a liability and very few employers will hire someone like that. Its also a reflection of your attitude and nobody wants to bring negativity into their organization.

2. Never say that you are doing it for the money.

While earning money is the main purpose of getting a job, for employers its not about that. You need to see things from their perspective. Always focus on what you can offer them and not on the financial reward that they can offer you. Most employers are looking for people who love their job and who are doing it for the love of it and not just for the financial reward.

3. Never disclose that you got fired.

Even if you got fired from your previous job, never come out and say it. Its much better to come up with a more subtle answer as to why you left your previous job. Being fired from any job spells problems for any new employer and they will probably not even consider you – regardless of the circumstances.

The real important fact is that you always need to approach your job interview with the attitude of what you can give them. Focus on what you can bring to the table and always see things through the eyes of the people interviewing you.

Do you need some great interview techniques and tips? See my blog to read more about the most common job interview questions.

Drupal Vs Phpbb

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

When trying to import external forums into Drupal, the main difficuilty that arises is a single fundamental difference between Drupal forums and the rest of today’s forums.

It’s the same one difference that for example makes common administrative tasks such as splitting or merging threads (while keeping in chronological order), etc., is easy in well-known forum systems but very much difficult in Drupal forums, core and Advanced and even directly editing the database. Drupal forums are good and usable in most cases, with most normal functions similar to other systems but, for more advanced moderation, they are not yet ready.

Why? What’s that basic difference?

We can see it in the support forums of the currently most popular forum systems, such as vBulletin, phpBB, SMF, and Invision Power or we can install them and look at the tables where posts and threads are stored.

Drupal have modules for threaded and flat forums, so this is not the main difference. Most current forums are linear/flat by default, but part of them admit both linear and threaded display modes.

The basic difference is another one, truly simple but with fundamental effects:

In forum systems, all posts are treated equally as part of a discussion -which can include several or many long posts-, with ID numbers in chronological order (which also includes the first post in each thread), and this gives the flexibility needed for common forum moderation tasks, to merge/split/move things around, while by default keeping them in chronological order. On the other hand, for example blog systems use a different content type, with a main long post and brief replies to the main post.

And Drupal forums are not forums. They are blogs trying to behave as forums, using the wrong tool or content type. Drupal forums are blogs. The first post in each topic is the topic node (stored in the node and node revisions tables), and the rest are comments to the node (stored in the comments table).

Surely most people in this group know about all this. Even many people from outside. Quoting for example from the phpBB support forums: “The reason that most of the people don’t like the default drupal forum module is because it handles the first post in a thread as a new node and each post that comes after it as a comment.”

So it’s a known fact, but I’m pointing at it because in my opinion we should also look at it as a fundamental flaw.

It appears this has happened for historical reasons: nodes and comments were the tools available when the core forum module was created, and they were used for forums and for blogs in similar ways. That is, instead of creating a structure similar to standard forums, taxonomy was powerful enough to disguise blogs as forums.

Therefore, possible solutions to move from that legacy arrangement to a flexible, standard forum structure would be really simple:

All posts as comments: when creating a new topic/thread -a node without text-, a first comment would be created at the same time for the first post.

All posts as nodes: like in the other solution, topics should have their table and ID numbers, and posts their different table and ID numbers.

This would make things much simpler, having real forums instead of blogs needing convoluted procedures to behave like forums.

At this moment, looking at the bright side, Drupal’s Advanced Forum seems to be the best option available until a real Drupal forum is developed. Even when it does not solve the basic problem, Advanced Forum is a great progress to add functionality from modules to the forums, and to style them like common modern systems, duplicating for the node the enhanced look and features of the comments. Sadly, the inner working is still the same blog-like, with the same difficulties for importing into Drupal from standard forums, and for moderation functions common in the other systems. But it works reasonably well, and improving, in many simple cases that don’t need much moderation/administration.

Since people like Catch and others are looking into this kind of problems, surely improvements will keep growing into Drupal forums.

Unpredictable Crossing Written by Jonna-Lynn K Mandelbaum

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

A twelve-year old girl, Tristeza, observed her village being burned to the ground after all its residents were killed by a horde of brutal people in her Mozambique. She had no family left now. Where was she to turn?

Amanda Bechtel, a missionary nurse in Mozambique, had to leave for home after being notified that her mother was very ill. She left unable to notify her betrothed fearing involvement of the secret police with his family.

Flash forward a few years to the streets of Rio de Janeiro where the Colonel Antonio Perreira rode through the streets picking up any young people he could find for his or his soldiers use.

Again flash forward as Amanda and her husband, Jeffrey Allmond, who at this time had been married seven-years, were preparing for a cruise. She had not heard anything regarding her betrothed in Mozambique since the Portuguese secret police censored all mail going in or out. She gave up on her past life and looked forward to the future. She loved Jeffrey and that was what mattered now.

Tristeza worked on the cruise ship as a cabin stewardess and the Allmond’s cabin was one of her assignments. She was mortified when she discovered that the colonel and his wife and daughter were passengers on the ship. Everyone knew he was on board because of his continual bullying voice and tactics toward anyone near, even his own family.

Amanda and Jeffrey were placed at the same table as the colonel and his family. They learned directly what a nasty man he was. The cruise continued with mysterious and goofy things occurring that brought full attention to almost everyone. Tristeza now went by the name Tristi. She remembered the man that was responsible for wiping out her family and her village but the colonel did not recognize her. She still did all she could do to hide from him being so feared of what he would do if he did recognize her.

The cruise continues with much interaction between Amanda, Jaffrey, Tristi, and the colonel’s family. The memory of her past life made Tristi chilled and scared. She did not want to keep having such memories as a child but the colonel kept those thoughts ingrained in her.

There are some flashbacks that will make the readers cringe themselves and wonder how humans can treat other humans as the colonel did and apparently still did. A very enjoyable story. The friendships that formed had to have continued after the story ended. I thank Jonna-Lynn for an excellent story told as though she was the subject that was hurt so badly.
