Membership Cards

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

As the name suggests membership cards are identity cards that you give out to members of clubs and other organisations. Over the years, these cards have changed from simple paper cards with very few security details incorporated into them to sophisticated plastic cards bristling with security features.

In some situations, paper cards without security features are still in use. However, this tends to be in situations where security is not important. When there are no membership fees, or discount rights involved and there is no access to secure buildings simple laminated paper cards are fine.

Plastic Membership Cards

By far the most popular form of membership card is a plastic card. Many businesses who sell their services do so by requiring you to sign up with them. A classic example of this is a gym. However, even local playgroups are starting to hand out membership cards to parents to improve security.

Other businesses use membership to offer their clients discounts or the chance to accumulate points they can exchange for products. However, these cards are not in the strictest sense membership cards.

A membership card contains the name of the member, maybe their membership number and sometimes their photograph. To distinguish it from other organisations membership cards, they normally also include the name, logo and colours of the gym or business they are for. Some cards also have space for a signature. Memberships with Milfare chips embedded in them can even double up as pass keys.

A good membership card is hard to make fake copies of. It is also durable, so can withstand being stored in a wallet or purse and taken in and out of it repeatedly.

Where to Buy Membership Cards

If you want to you can buy membership cards from your local printing firm. However, there are several disadvantages to doing it this way. The main problem is the cost. Using a specialist firm will save you a great deal of money. It will also mean that you can have additional security features added to your membership cards as well as microchips to allow you to give to your members as access keys.

If you need to print membership cards visit the Printed Plastic Cards website. They offer many extras other firms do not offer including microchips and magnetic strips.
