Various Face Lift Alternatives

Post from http://www.danieluk.net

Summary: There are different types of face lift techniques available. Here are some things to think about.

A face lift can be achieved with a variety of techniques. It all depends on the patient’s need and individual circumstances. As a person ages, his or her facial skin will become wrinkled and saggy. This occurs due to loss of elasticity in the skin and the repetitive facial expressions humans make in response to happiness, sadness, anger and worry. Some examples of procedures that may alleviate the haggard look are the traditional, the mini, facial contour alternations, blepharoplasty, brow lift, dermatological fillers and rejuvenation techniques. Here are some things to think about:

-Traditional: The traditional procedure addresses the lower 75% of a person’s face. This includes the jawline, jowls, cheeks and neckline. Incisions are made in the scalp around the hairline. Several weeks recovery time is needed to heal from this operation. Drains will be placed during the surgery in order to drain off excess fluids.

-Mini: A mini addresses the jawline and jowls as well, but to a lesser degree. The incisions will be shorter and the result will be less dramatic. This is more of a touch up or beginner technique most appropriate for individuals in their thirties or forties.

-Facial Contour Alterations: In order to provide contour, which can lift up sagging tissue, surgeons place synthetic implants into regions such as cheeks and chin in order to provide a more defined and youthful look. These implants are placed near the bone in subcutaneous tissue. The incisions are made inside of the patients’ mouth in order to hide scarring. This is usually an outpatient procedure and takes only two or three hours to complete.

-Blepharoplasty: This is eyelid surgery which addresses sagginess in the upper or lower lid. This operation often helps clear up impaired peripheral vision that was being hampered by saggy skin.

-Brow lift: This procedure addresses the upper portion of the face and is sometimes combined with the traditional method which targets the lower 75%. Wrinkled foreheads are tightened up into a more youthful appearance.

-Dermatological fillers: Injections of natural or composite fillers can soften wrinkles, crows’ feet and more. Botox may be used to relax muscle tension that creates a wrinkled surface, as well.

-Rejuvenation techniques: There are many different types of rejuvenation techniques which can be done by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Examples include skin resurfacing methods such as laser or chemical peels, microdermabrasion or dermabrasion. The peels are designed to remove the top layer of dermis in order to get rid of wrinkled, scarred or sun damaged areas. The new layer that grows back is usually flaw-free, tighter and more attractive. The microdermabrasion and dermabrasion methods entail planing away the damaged upper layer with an abrasive agent.

A face lift can make a person look younger and feel more youthful too. Faces are one of the most public portions of our physical bodies that we present to the world. The way they look affects our self esteem, our social lives and opportunities at work.

In Dallas, face lift surgery might be too extreme, but plastic surgeons have other similar treatments. Find out more today at http://www.usaplasticsurgery.com/.
