In what is being called a historic ruling, a San Diego judge sentenced a revenge porn website operator to 18 years in prison today, The Daily Dot reports. Back in February, Kevin Bollaert was found guilty on 21 counts of identity theft and six counts of extortion for his operation of the website UGotPosted, which was active during 2012 and 2013.
Bollaert will also pay $ 10,000 in restitution
The website allowed users to anonymously post private photos without the subjects’ knowledge or consent. Bollaert also ran a separate website that charged victims up to $ 350 to remove photos from UGotPosted.
