A visit to Munich is always on top of the list of all visiting Germany due to its proximity to the Alps. Two of the best universities in Germany, a booming economy with global headquarters of many world-class companies, modern infrastructure and the greatest beer culture on the planet have made it an expensive city to stay. Holiday On Ice Festival – The start of February is celebrated all over Germany with this show which stops over at all cities entertaining visitors and locals with a new show every year.


Verzaubert Film Festival is an international queer film festival touring through four German cities: Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Berlin. The Verzaubert Film Weekend brings gay and lesbian cinema to the masses.


Munich Ballet Week – The Bavarian State Ballet celebrates its 20th anniversary with a two-week long ballet festival in April. Every year this festival manages to premier a new show, which sometimes is especially created for the festival.  A new adaptation of the Classic Swan Lake, inspired by King Ludwig, the “Mad” Bavarian king who built Neuschwanstein Castle will be main event of the festival this year.


The Spring Festival – Its spring around end of April and May so the spring festival is on. It is a huge party with more than 100 fairground rides, beer tents and live music, all there to entertainment from the youngest to the oldest. The fest runs over two weeks and takes place at Munich’s Theresienwiese. Take a stroll around the grounds to check out the rides or just sit in the Paulaner beer garden to soak up the sun and a bit more beer and enjoy the lively Bavarian music that has everybody tapping their feet.


The International Documentary Film Festival – This festival held in May highlights documentary films made for cinema by taking them out of the shadow of competing dramatic films. Non-German language films less than 15 minutes of duration spanning documentary, fiction, animation and experimentation are shown at the festival. Entry to this festival is by buying tickets to the various venues so look out for them and book early.


Tollwood – The summer months of June and July is the time for music lovers to celebrate. This 25 day long Summer Festival is famous for its globally acclaimed theatre productions, concerts, Rock, Pop, Salsa, Reggae, Blues and Jazz music. Held at the Olympic park each year, Tollwood offers several shops selling handcrafted arts and culinary treats from all over the world.  All the culinary offering at this festival is organic, indicating the level of dedication this festival has towards the concept of organic foodstuffs.


The Oktoberfest- The most awaited festival of the world “Oktoberfest” is held in Munich annually. This year this festival will be held from September 22 to October 7, 2012. You may not get cheap flights to Munich or cheap tickets of Munich if you are not fast enough to book them much in advance. You do need to plan your trip to Munich with great care for you have to have a great time visiting this interesting city.
